I went in because I was dizzy all week. I waited over 1 hour for the doctor to look at me not even 5 minutes and say to just avoid anything that makes you more dizzy. When I was finally able to see my doctor it turns out I had very low iron levels. I am very up happy with the disconcern this doctor had for the patents. I understand it was a busy night but I do feel he should at least give a damn a little bit about his patients well being.
My dad had a terrible experience this week. He booked an appointment to see a doctor because he needed a medical form filled out to verify a brief medical history so he can get a surgery hes been waiting for. He had explained this on the phone to the staff when he booked it. This was not his doctor but we were told that even a walk in doctor should be able to complete this basic form. When the doctor got in the room he immediately blamed us for booking the wrong appointment and said there wasnt enough time and he said he didnt know if he had to charge for this kind of an appointment in Alberta. It was infuriating. He was wasting our time and making a big deal about getting my dads weight checked and blood pressure which the nurses should have done anyways. He eventually completed the information because we werent going to leave without it. I was also disturbed by the lack of professionalism from all of the staff. I didnt feel like there were any trained nurses there based on how they dressed, no pride in their work, and zero processes in place. At my clinic, the nurses always take my blood pressure no matter what kind of an appointment I book when I first get in the room. The nurses were literally only there to walk us into the room. I also found it odd that they never asked to see my dads identification or Alberta health care card when we checked in. We had never been to that clinic before. Needless to say, we wont be back to this clinic. I felt like the doctor was only there to earn more money on top of his basic flat fee and if I wasnt there my dad would have been turned away completely.
I have much to say about how poorly Bigalow Fowler west treats their patients. My son and I have been going to this clinic for many years, and tonights experience was the last experience we will ever have with the clinic again, which is unfortunate because Mark and the pharmacy next door are a 10 out of 10 and I highly recommend the pharmacy...but enough is enough with the clinic thinking they are more important than their patience. When you show up an hour and 13 minutes before the walk-in clinic closes and they say sorry were not taking anymore patience thats unacceptable. We had altered family plans to allow to be there. If when I talked to the person at reception earlier in the day and they had said its an open clinic and you cant make an appointment, but they may stop taking names over an hour before close I wouldnt have gone there. Or if it said online that you may be turned away even if your there at a very reasonable hour early maybe I would have called first. But just sorry thats just the way it is and basically deal with it (not in those words but implied) oh we can get you in tomorrow at 5pm. Well we came tonight becasue we could. My time is as valuable as the doctors, perhaps more. And for me to leave 2 hours early from work is VERY difficult. Perhaps let people know that you probably stop allowing patience even if they are there over an hour before close. Absolutely unacceptable and you can easily see why the bigalow fowler clinic west has such an incredible poor google rating. Much much more to come from me in other reviews...not done!
I never got to tell the doctor what's was wrong. He kinda just did his thing and left, Did not care about my issue. This happened to me twice at the same place, obvs something needs to change.
