Showed up 15 mins before close and the lady said she had already shut down her coffee and milk steaming machines.. Refused to make me a drink except a basic tea, which I ordered. Tea was good but $4 for one smaller size cup. The baked goods were all away by now as well and I asked about gluten free cookies. Which they had and she gave it to me for free for being inconvenienced and because I think I made a big deal about them being closed 15 mins early. Cookie was very good great crumb and flavour. Can't comment on price.
Jonny bean serves Bows and Arrows coffee, which is great stuff. However I always appreciate cafes that get or roast coffee locally. It would be nice if Jonny found a roaster closer to home instead of getting a big name out of Vancouver. But, as I said, Bows and Arrows is superb stuff, and I really enjoyed my cup. The folks behind the counter, particularly the gentleman, didnt seem too interested in engaging a patron who was trying to shoot the breeze with him, and our cups were not preheated which is a standard procedure nowadays when serving pour overs of this bean caliber. Other than that, the Ethiopia I had was one of the best cups Ive had in a long time.
I enjoyed the minimalist atmosphere, however some more comfortable seating would have been nice. The Americano I ordered was pleasant, though nothing about it made me feel like it was worth more than what I would have got from Starbucks or any other coffee house in town.If I lived in the neighborhood I might frequent it, but as I don't there's nothing compelling to bring me back.
My wife says, "best latte in town". Me, I loved the Americano and the cookies. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Why would you ever go to Tim Hortons when Jonny Bean is right across the street?
This coffee shop is refreshing for Lethbridge, & for the North side in particular. It is a fresh, clean, and open space. The snacks are different and good. Many gluten free options as well. They also have Kambucha on tap too which I thought was very cool!
